World Medicine is a registered UK charity which provides complementary and alternative healthcare to people around the world suffering the effects of trauma, disaster and poverty.
World Medicine is managed by a volunteer committee who give their time and expertise for free. So far World Medicine has organised projects in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India and Palestine. World Medicine projects are self-funded, with volunteers fundraising for their own flights, food, and accommodation. Equipment is donated from UK suppliers. Our practitioners are fully qualified in their chosen fields, and include acupuncturists, massage practitioners, herbalists, homeopaths, osteopaths, healers and naturopaths.
World Medicine is non-political, non-religious, and non-profit-making.
To find out about how we started, read this report of the first World Medicine (then called Acupuncture sans Frontieres) project in Sri Lanka (September 2005), published in the Journal of Chinese Medicine.
